Cracker Barrel Breakfast Review: New Menu Items to Try

Hi, I'm Veronica Kibler, and today, we’re at Cracker Barrel to explore their new breakfast items. Join us as we check out what’s new on the menu. It's Memorial Day weekend, and Cracker Barrel is beautifully decorated. Let's take a moment to honor those who have served in the military and didn’t return home.

This Cracker Barrel location is in Kodak, off the 407 exit of Interstate 40. It’s easily accessible for tourists and has a spacious parking lot with a beautiful view.

Inside, the JM General Store part of Cracker Barrel always features seasonal items, including new menu additions. Today, we're here to try out their latest breakfast offerings. With 4th of July approaching, the store is filled with patriotic and summer-themed merchandise, including nautical items.

Our Breakfast Experience

We arrived early, just after opening, to beat the crowd. Here’s what we ordered:

Fresh Berry French Toast Bake: This new menu item features country bread soaked in vanilla custard, topped with cheesecake filling, and baked until golden. It’s served with fresh strawberries and blueberries, and supposed to come with whipped cream and powdered sugar. It was delicious, even though the whipped cream was initially forgotten.

New York Strip Steak: A recent addition to the menu, replacing the ribeye. It’s served with hash brown casserole and a side of biscuits and gravy. The steak was cooked to medium, just as ordered, and came with a flavorful garlic butter sauce.

Other New Items:

  • Mimosa pitchers in orange, strawberry, or peach flavors.
  • Southern Fried Chicken and Bee Sting Chicken Tenders, which have a spicy kick.
  • House Salad, a nostalgic item we’re glad to see return.

Our Impressions

The Fresh Berry French Toast Bake was a standout. The combination of cheesecake filling, strawberries, and blueberries made it taste more like a dessert. The New York Strip Steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. Although there were minor hiccups, like the hash brown casserole not being crispy enough and eggs not exactly over-easy, the overall meal was satisfying.

We always feel a warm, homely atmosphere at Cracker Barrel, reminiscent of visiting a grandparent’s house. Despite the small issues, the comfort food experience remains consistent.

Exploring the Cracker Barrel Store

After breakfast, we explored the Cracker Barrel store, filled with beautiful summer items, including:

  • Seasonal decorations and clothing
  • Garden accessories
  • Lightweight aluminum cake dishes
  • Stylish sandals and glittery women’s shirts

We also found a beautiful tea set lamp and some whimsical gnome decorations. The military-themed shirts were on sale, adding to the excitement of our visit.
